Influenza is a significant public health issue in New Zealand. Each year it has a large impact on our community, with 10-20% of New Zealanders infected.
As part of the Ministry of Health`s preparation for the potential impact of COVID-
19 on the health sector, the 2020 influenza immunisation programme has been brought forward for eligible patients only, as they are at greatest risk of serious illness from influenza. Privately funded vaccinations will be deferred until 14th April.
We are taking appointments for flu vaccines, please ensure you are well and have been for the last week.
The Flu vaccine clinic will be running from the cabin located behind the building, please stay in your vehicle. You will be required to wait in your vehicle 20 minutes post vaccine so please try and bring a support person with you.

Consultations are still taking place, they are just operating a little differently, either via phone or video consultation. Please continue to contact us as per usual for script requests, medical advice, child immunisation appointments and to book your flu vaccine.
Please note that if your script is not due for another 2 weeks you will not be able to get your script early.
We know this is a difficult time for everyone but as a country we can all fight this disease. We will come to work for you, so please stay at home for us!
Look after yourself and your families.

We are thrilled to have just received our Cornerstone accreditation for a further four years!
Our practice undertook our First Cornerstone accreditation in May 2014. In May 2018, we were due for our renewal. There is a lot of hard work and dedication involved in the process of Cornerstone so it is a great achievement to have been accredited for a further four years, until 2022.
Cornerstone is an accreditation programme that assesses practices using the Aiming for excellence standard.
Benefits of Cornerstone
- Contributes to safer care and a better experience for patients
- Demonstrates a commitment to ongoing quality improvement
- Enhances teamwork in the practice
- Enhances clinical processes
- Contributes to continuing professional development
Practices that have successfully completed CORNERSTONE maintain accreditation by undertaking an annual programme. This process is like continuing professional development, where certain criteria must be met every year during a four- year cycle to maintain professional standards.

Congratulations to our wonderful Dr Shah for taking out the award for GP Clinical Contribution for 2017 at our PHO Awards dinner on the 14th November! We are extremely proud of her. Sej is our GP registrar teacher at our practice, she takes on a large responsibility of looking after our registrars. She is an excellent team player and is always willing to help the practice when in need of extra GP cover at short notice, at the same time as juggling her 1 year old son! Nothing is ever a bother for Sej and we are very lucky to have her as a part of our team.
Well done!

- The SUN is the cause of premature aging of our skin
- The SUN damages unprotected skin throughout the entire day, regardless if weather, every day of the year and even while driving.
